GVHS Dance Coach
Dancer / Choreographer / Artistic Director
As a founding member of the LA City Rockers, a notable dance crew formed in 1982 known for their original West Coast style of Popping, Locking, Breaking and early Fusion, Terry went on to perform and choreograph for Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation Project and World Tour. After receiving industry praise for his work with Ms. Jackson, such as his innovative choreography in her ”Alright” and “Miss You Much” (Chair sequence) music videos, and following a decade of stage, tours and television, Terry became choreographer to both rising and established artists.
In 1998, Terry opened New World Dance, a professional dance school in Santa Clarita, CA. After a couple of years of training, New World Dance jumped into the competition scene, and in 2003 Terry’s students won the American Street Dance Championships (Both Jr. and Sr. Divisions). As New World Dance continued to receive top honors from National Dance Competitions, such as Kids Artistic Revue, Nexstar, Bravo, Spotlight Showstopper, and Fire & Ice, in 2009 the American Street Dance Championships returned in conjunction with the LA Fitness Expo... Once again, New World Dance was victorious. New World Dance has been KAR National Champions in Las Vegas 11 years running. Recent additions to Terry’s resume include: Director of dance for America’s Best New Talent, Choreographer for Geffen Recording Artist NLT, Choreographer for the film production “Yellow” Director: Nick Cassavettes, Choreographer for Boyz Club music video “Whatchu Do” and Director of Dance for Birmingham and Golden Valley High Schools. Most recently, performed on NBC’s America’s Got Talent with DADitude
